I have recently returned from a wonderful trip to Spain at the invitation of a good friend and guide. I was familiar with the Costa del Sol, having visited some 20 years ago, but to visit some of the inland treasures of Andalusia was a real treat. This is the ancient mountain top city of Ronda at an elevation of 2424.54ft. The miles of winding mountain roads climbing up from the Costa Sol coast had magnificent views. The gorge (El Tajo) separates the city’s circa-15th-century new town from its old town, dating to Moorish rule. New town’s Plaza de Toros, a legendary 18th-century bullring, is one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks.
